Public Affairs Community Relations Associate
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Community Relations Manager and VP of Public Affairs, the Public Affairs CR Associate is responsible for assisting with Pechanga’s community outreach and philanthropic efforts, as well as developing and disseminating materials for media, public, and government relations purposes. Assists with initiatives to promote Pechanga and maintain favorable relationships with the surrounding community, key stakeholders, and policymakers. FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Customer Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort and Casino. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Works with the VP of Public Affairs and Department to write, edit, and proofread press materials, press releases, op-eds, media advisories, fact sheets, correspondence, newsletters, talking points, Frequently Asked Questions, position papers, brochures, reports, and other collateral and printed materials; 2. Maintains database of Pechanga’s giving, including records of payments, and sponsorship determinations 3. Runs regular reports of charitable requests for CMR review and determination 4. Processes approved charitable monetary and in-kind donations 5. Provides planning assistance and support for public and internal philanthropic events, including set up, volunteer sign-ups, sponsorship element fulfillment and attendance, coordinating collateral and materials purchases 6. Manages news coverage to identify and disseminate ongoing media coverage of Pechanga, leadership, and key strategic issues identified by the CRM and Department; 7. Implements a media clips system capture, share, and archive digital files of all press coverage of Pechanga; 8. Maintains calendar for coordinating and scheduling department-related events 9. Provides administrative assistance support including coordinating travel, correspondence, scheduling, and filing 10. Prepares and organizes handouts and materials for department-related meetings and events 11. Provides staff support at special events and functions 12. Provides planning assistance and support for media and special events 13. Represents Department at organizational and public events Authority and Supervisory Capacity 1. None Access to Sensitive Assets and Areas 1. Departmental Financial Data Qualifications: • BA in either public relations, political science, business administration or journalism preferred • 3-5 years of work experience in public affairs, community relations, government affairs or marketing preferred • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills • Must have excellent organizational skills • Must have working knowledge/understanding of non-profit sector, journalism and government • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Publisher • Must have ability to maintain total confidentiality • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings • Must be available to travel on occasion • Must obtain/maintain Class “A” Gaming Commission License |
