DPS Sergeant

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Sergeant is responsible for field and office operations on an assigned shift and supervises and personally performs a variety of routine and complex safety work in the performance and administration of officers, dispatchers, emergency medical technicians, and patrol and related activities. The Sergeant is the second line of supervision and a facilitator of DPS policies and procedures. The Sergeant is knowledgeable in the violations of common California Penal Code Laws.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT
All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino (PRC).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage daily floor operations.
• Ensure a safe environment at all times at PRC.
• Ensure all policies, rules, regulations, and laws as it pertains to PRC are followed and upheld.
• Enforce gaming regulations in accordance with the internal control policy.
• Cope constructively with Team Member and guest situations as they arise.
• In absence of Lieutenant, will take on role of Watch Commander
• Coordinate the allocation, training, and assignments of officers and other assigned staff.
• Promote and build teamwork and trust.
• Effectively communicate all pertinent information to DPS Team Members.
• Proficiency in writing daily reports and other necessary documentation.
• Keeps management of other PRC departments informed of developments that may impact their areas.
• Excel in effective coaching and counseling of direct reports to include performance reviews and progressive discipline.
• Other duties assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY: This position has supervisory responsibilities including departmental training, performance journaling, making valuable recommendations for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. The Team Member is also responsible for protecting the assets of PRC.

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Additional requirements: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; at least 2 years of supervisory experience, and at least 8-10 years in related field such as Military, Security or Law Enforcement is required to successfully perform this job.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This position also requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Furthermore, this position also requires the ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or Team Members of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. This position also requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must be able to obtain a Class “A” gaming license.
• CA Guard Card.
• CA Weapons Permit, CA Baton permit, Pepper Spray permit.
• PC 832.
• NIMS/FEMA.
• Title 31.
• Responsible Gaming.
• Responsible Beverage Service.
• Driver’s License.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be detailed oriented.
• Must be outgoing, energetic and capable of interacting with the general public in a highly professional manner.
• Possess great integrity, a team player, a supportive and effective listener who seeks to motivate, coach and mentor the team.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
• Must have basic typing skills.
• Must be able to speak clearly on a radio.
• Flexible and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have own duty gear.
• Must be able to work with a positive attitude in a fast paced and culturally diverse casino environment.
