Fire Life Safety Apprentice

GENERAL SUMMARY
Fire Life Safety Apprentice assists service technician with diagnosis, repairs, maintenance and installations of commercial fire protection and low voltage systems and/or equipment. Works with various types of tools, gauges, measuring equipment under guidance from a service technician. Performs other duties as required by the position.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT
All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Customer Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort and Casino.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists PRC Fire Alarm Technician in diagnosis of fire protection and low voltage systems performance through observation, testing and set-up.
• Assists PRC Fire Alarm Technician in the disassembly and reassembly of large or small commercial systems equipment to perform trouble shooting and preventative maintenance.
• Assists in coordinating remodeling requirements and repairs to the system with PRC Facilities Department personnel.
• Assists in coordinating system modifications and installations with outside contractors.
• Operates hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment under the guidance of PRC Fire Alarm Technician to perform service to the equipment or systems.
• Pursue continuing education courses to obtain a California Fire Life Safety license.

ACCOUNTABILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Specialized training or trade school preferred.
• NICET Level I certification and brand factory trained preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This position also requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Furthermore, this position requires the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. This position also requires the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar.



REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This position also requires the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must be able to obtain a Class “A” gaming license.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Aptitude to develop diagnostic ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training.
• Aptitude to develop the ability to competently use a variety of gauges, meters, measuring instruments, hand tools, power tools and equipment.
• Aptitude to develop the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and without close supervision; willing and able to consistently work the schedule required by job demands.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly; independently lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds frequently and 80 pounds occasionally
• Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold
• Kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis; stand, walk
• See (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
• Works on carpeted, concrete, wood, tile and/or vinyl floors or combination within the confines of a commercial building.
