About This Opportunity:
We are currently looking for a Wedding Planner to join our team at the legendary Queen Mary. The Queen Mary, a LGBT friendly wedding venue, has been host to unforgettable Southern California Long Beach weddings for over 70 years. From large and lavish extravaganzas to small and intimate affairs, we have venues available to accommodate a variety of wedding needs.
As a Wedding Planner, you’ll be responsible for working with wedding customers to help them plan and select offerings that will complement their event such as invitations, entertainment, photography, floral arrangements and bouquets, linens, guest favors, etc.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities of a Wedding Planner include:
• Greeting and working with wedding couples
• Listening to and reading the customer; helping the customer to identify/select services that will best enhance/meet the needs of their wedding
• Offering, upselling and coordinating the delivery of a myriad of services to include invitations, flowers, linens, entertainment, photography, etc.
• Anticipating needs of the wedding couple based on knowledge of customer and prior events
• Ensuring that the client’s vision for the wedding is effectively executed
• Creating and staffing wedding booth for special event weekends
• Attending select bridal expos as appropriate
• Networking in the local community
Job Requirements:
The ideal Wedding Planner candidate will be detail oriented and have previous experience as a wedding or event coordinator at a catering venue, hotel, resort or similar wedding venue. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and translating these into upsell solutions/opportunities
• Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
• Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice
• Professional, warm and friendly demeanor with a positive attitude
• Possess creative skills with excellent attention to details
• Skilled negotiator a must
Preferred & Required Experience:
• Previous experience executing weddings and working with brides required
• Experience working as a wedding or event coordinator at a catering venue, hotel, resort or similar wedding venue is a plus
• Previous experience/working knowledge of Delphi preferred
